Encounter on the Moose River

Startled by steps –
that New Balance
bounce – loud as
Boeing jets gliding
through the metallic
clouds of a perfect
aloneness, a blue
heron hides between
two teal wings, folding
and glittering, holding
its eyelids near the
flowing stillness of a
river, bare and abundant.
