Shambhala Studio’s “Wangdü Soldep” prayer

On the eve of Dakini Day on 24 December, Christmas Eve, Shambhala Studio unleashed a barnstorming rap-storm of positive energy, channeling the enlightened message of Mipham Rinpoche’s (Jamgön Mipham Gyatso, 1846 – 1912) prayer, Wangdü Soldep. Mipham Rinpoche was one of the greatest philosophers and intellectuals of the Nyingma tradition.

May the thunderous dakini resonance of this remix resonate around the world and bring vibrant positivity, hope, vigor, and power to all sentient beings!

“Manifest your desires” is an incredible remix of the traditional prayer, brought to us by an entente of artists pushing the boundaries of Buddhist music: they represent a new expression of creative passion for making contemporary Buddhist media that connects the alienated yet intensely intelligent and connected youth of our times to the Dharma.

Distinct from the Silk Road themes of Kitaro and Hiroki Okano, but also from the traditional compositions of Ani Choying and Imee Ooi, this new recording (or manifestation, one might say) of Wangdü Soldep follows in the deconstructive footsteps of Padmasambhava himself, father of the Nyingma school. From Oddiyana to Tibet and beyond, Padmasambhava was the divine rock star of his age. Thanks to Shambhala Studio founder Laurence Brahm, the enlightened rebel and magic-maker of Padmasambhava is rocking and rapping into an enlightened new age.
