Prof. Arvind Kumar Singh

Prof. (Dr) Arvind Kumar Singh, an academician in field of Buddhist Studies, currently serving as Visiting Professor under the prestigious Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Chair for Buddhist Studies (ICCR) at Lumbini Buddhist University, Nepal. Prof. Singh has deep expertise in Buddhist history, archaeology, and heritage studies. A native of Bodh Gaya, Prof. Singh holds a Ph.D. in Buddhist Studies from the University of Delhi, where he also earned his B.A., M.A., and M.Phil. He began his teaching career at the University of Delhi (2006-2011), later joining Gautam Buddha University (GBU) in Greater Noida in 2011. At GBU, he spearheaded MoUs with leading Buddhist institutions in Korea, Thailand, and India, and organized international conferences, significantly enhancing the universityís global standing.

Prof. Singh has published over 100 research articles and authored/co-edited six major books, including Animals in Early Buddhism, A Text Book of the History of Theravāda Buddhism, Buddhism in Southeast Asia, Buddhism in Far East and Buddhist in South Asia, Researches in Buddhist Studies. He has supervised 10 PhDs, 26 MPhil, and 38 MA dissertations, with several of his students publishing monographs based on their research. Recognized internationally, he has received the Mahatma Buddha Peace Award (2020) and the Dr. S. Radhakrishnan Best Faculty of Buddhist Studies Award (2021) among others. He has delivered his lectures at international platform of UNDV Conferences in various countries and from time to time viz. Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Russia, Nepal, and serves on advisory/ editorial boards in New Zealand, the U.S., and India.
