Dr. Priyanka Jain

Priyanka holds a Ph.D in Urban Economics & Planning from the University of Hong Kong, MSc. in Urban Planning from Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand, and B.A in Political Science from University of Calcutta, India. She also holds a degree in Performing Arts from Shri Ram Centre for Performing Arts in India.

Before turning to theatre full time, Priyanka taught in the City University of Hong Kong and The University of Hong Kong.  However, her love for the stage and using performing arts as a medium of education and change led to the formation of Teacup Productions.

Currently, under the umbrella of Teacup, Priyanka is engaged in producing weekly radio shows for RTHK’s community broadcast programme. She is also engaged in developing and delivering language education programmes for local primary school children under the aegis of Education Bureau.

She is author and editor of several children’s stories in English that are taught as a part of English language programme in local primary schools of Hong Kong.

Priyanka writes and directs her own stage plays in English for both children and adults. She also conducts career development and skills programme for high-school students, especially girls. She is also engaged by several tertiary educational institutions and NGOs for designing and delivering drama lessons.

When she is not writing, teaching or recording, Priyanka loves to meet and talk to people, because that is where the real stories exist!
