A major, high-level religious ceremony called the Grand Kurim is being solemnly conducted across Bhutan. Since March 2, 2026, the Grand Kurim has been held at 20 Dratshang Chodey (regional dzongs (fortresses) or monastic communities), Shedras (monastic colleges), Goenzin Dratshang (ritual centers), Drubdeys (meditation centers), and Lobdras (training institutes). Prayers are being held at these events, dedicated to the swift pacification of the ongoing hostilities in the Middle East and the restoration of enduring peace and harmony.
The Grand Kurim was initiated in accordance with the Directives of the Board of Executive Sangha Council through the Office of Sangha Administration of the Central Monastic Body (Zhung Dratshang). The ceremonies are also offered for the wellbeing of Bhutanese residing abroad, invoking their protection from obstacles and adverse conditions, and ensuring their safety during these uncertain times, particularly for those living in conflict-affected regions.

Likewise, today, on the auspicious 15th day of the First Lunar Month (Miraculous Month), His Eminence the Laytshog Lopen Sangay Dorji of the Central Monastic Body presided over the Rewa Sangchö and Naten Chudru rituals at Kuenselphodrang in the morning, followed by the Amitabha ritual (Dechen Zhindrub) at Samtenling Tara Assembly Hall.
Furthermore, at the Buddha Dordenma Kuensel Phodrang, a Smoke Puja followed by the Ritual of Sixteen Arhats was performed, coinciding with the auspicious conclusion of the Chötrul Month. It was also presided over by the Laytshog Lopen.
